There are a whole bunch of Art and Sculpture events and exhibitions happening over the next couple of months, so to make it easier for you, we thought we’d pull them together in one place!

Still Lives

STILL LIVES

The Hepworth Wakefield will explore the theme of still life in a new exhibition. Still Lives will display more than 70 works by over 50 artists across two galleries, illustrating the enduring nature of the still life genre throughout different eras in art history, including post-impressionism, British modernism, surrealism and contemporary art.

Yukihiro Akama

YUKIHIRO AKAMA: BASHO NO KANKAKU – A SENSE OF PLACE 場所の感覚

A display of 55 works, Yukihiro Akama’s Basho no Kankaku – A Sense of Place 場所の感覚 at Yorkshire Sculpture Park will be Akama’s largest exhibition to date. It will showcase a new collection of beautiful, intricately carved wooden houses of various sizes – from just 4cm to 106cm – alongside a series of architectural technical drawings and mini prints.

Sylvia Snowden: Painting Humanity

SYLVIA SNOWDEN: PAINTING HUMANITY

The Hepworth Wakefield presents the first public gallery exhibition in Europe of African-American painter Sylvia Snowden’s work, including early paintings through to more recent works. Snowden works with oil paint and pastels as well as acrylic and collage to create her expressionist, distorted, monumental figures, capturing the psychological essence of her subjects  in thick impasto.

THE HEPWORTH WAKEFIELD PRINT FAIR

The Hepworth Wakefield’s Print Fair – the go-to place to buy and explore all things print – at Tileyard North returns! Visitors will be able to buy work from over 60 artists and collectives – working in linocut, mono-printing, screen-printing, collagraph, woodcut, textile design and more – alongside a selection of galleries which specialise in selling prints.

Saroj Patel: Interwoven

SAROJ PATEL: INTERWOVEN

The Art House is proud to present the debut solo exhibition of artist Saroj Patel, whose work explores her contrasting and sometimes conflicting identities as a British Indian woman. Growing up in the north of England surrounded by a large Indian community has inspired Patel to investigate the aesthetic and ritualistic allure of traditional Indian ceremonies.

Leilah Babirye Obumu

LEILAH BABIRYE: OBUMU (UNITY)

Leilah Babirye: Obumu (Unity) will feature new sculptures made at Yorkshire Sculpture Park specifically for this exhibition, largely from materials found onsite. Babirye’s practice originally began as activism, as a gay woman in her home country of Uganda, where being gay is illegal and risks the death penalty, and her work explores the diversity of LGBTQIA+ identities.

Yoga and Gong Relaxation: Erwin Wurm

YOGA AND GONG RELAXATION: ERWIN WURM

Join the Yorkshire Sculpture Park for a yoga and gong relaxation practice in the Underground gallery, surrounded by the Erwin Wurm exhibition. Enjoy a breath-led, physical practice followed by a deep relaxation session, accompanied by the magical, nurturing sound of the gong. Gather afterwards for a nourishing breakfast of fruit, pastries, granola, yogurt and warm drinks.

Yorkshire Artspace

YORKSHIRE ARTSPACE: MAKER SHOWCASE

Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Yorkshire Artspace have collaborated to showcase work by 17 exceptional makers in YSP Centre, including ceramics, silversmithing, jewellery and leather work. Each maker taking part is renowned for their individual specialism, working with galleries and outlets across the UK and internationally. All work will be for sale.
