About
Come and join Best Yorkshire Boating for a fun 90 minute on the water setting sail from Fall Ings Lock, Wakefield.
Experience the beauty of the Calder and Hebble Canal aboard the historic Apollo. Built in 1929 Apollo is a fine example of how a working narrow boat should be. Spend some time being the cargo in the open hold of this spectacular vessel. Expect lots of lock learning on this voyage! You can engage with navigation and history as much as you like with the guidance of our local expert skippers, or just sit back and relax. The choice is yours.
Bring Your Own Food & Drink
Feel free to bring your own food, drink (including alcohol!) and have a great time. And no need to leave your best pal at home – dogs are welcome on board too!
What to Bring On Board
- A big coat – This is Yorkshire, after all! Layers are your friend.
- A sense of adventure – You might be steering the boat or working a lock before you know it!
- Food & drink – Bring your own picnic and tipples (yes, including alcohol).
- Comfy shoes – Ideal for stepping on and off the boat and helping with locks.
- Your crew – Family, friends, kids, and well-behaved dogs are all welcome.
