Some things in life are considered sacrosanct, such as the right to education and to work. One such right is the right to trial by jury. Recently, following the acquittal of the defendants in the Edward Colston statue criminal damage case, that right has come under the spotlight.

Historian, writer and Queen’s Mill Programme Manager John Heywood explores the history and importance of this aspect of our legal system. Learn about Trial by Ordeal. the Magna Carta and Habeas Corpus. We would also be interested in hearing your views on this important subject.

This is the first talk in a new fortnightly series of talks organised by Castleford Heritage Trust that will cover a wide range of subjects. Entry is completely free and tea and coffee are available.

Why not spend a couple of hours at Queen’s Mill and be entertained and informed?
