A Grand Day Out – Castleford

Castleford precinct is very flat, the area can be easily navigated around without having to cross any steps or inclines. A mapped area of the event including accessible toilets can be found here (a link to the site map will be available here for you to view soon).

Carlton Street – This is the main festival site and where most activities will take place, the street is easily accessible and completely flat.

Carlton Lanes Shopping Centre – Shopping area, rest spaces, cafes, restaurants & accessible toilets.

Museum & Library’s – quiet rest space, children’s craft activities & accessible facilities.

Our friendly team of staff, security, first aiders and contractors will be on hand to offer any assistance. You can find us in either Hi-Viz or Wakefield council Uniform, look for ‘EVENT STAFF’ on our backs!

Please note this is not a ticketed event and therefore we cannot confirm what the site capacity will be on the day. The crowds generally gather close to the stalls and break out areas which can be found on the precinct with benches to rest. Carlton Lanes Shopping Centre will be open during the event where welfare facilities and a quiet space for a coffee in a café can be found.

Toilets – A portable disabled access toilet unit will be located next Marks & Spencer’s, on Florence Street however if you prefer, full accessible toilets can be found within the Carlton Lanes shopping centre building. Unfortunately, there is no nearby changing place – the closest to the event would be located at the Xscape.

Parking – The closest and most convenient disabled parking to the precinct is Aire Street, Bridge Street and Castlefield’s car park.

Mobility Scooter/Wheelchair Hire – this facility can be found within the Carlton Lanes Shopping Centre, details on booking this can be found here About us | (carltonlanes.co.uk)

Should you need medical attention please inform a member of staff or security on site, they will direct you to the medical tent or request for a medic to come to you.

Unfortunately, we do not have any secure storage for medicines on site.

Assistance dogs are welcomed to all areas of the event, this must be an assistance dog that is recognised by one of the official charitable organisations as members of Assistance Dogs UK.

You can reach the event by bus or by train with no trouble.
