The seaside is coming to Castleford for a grand week out!
Families are invited to enjoy a week-long beach-themed experience right in the heart of town. With large sandpits, buckets and spades, classic deckchairs, and giant games, it’s the perfect place for children to build sandcastles and play while parents sit back and relax.
The fun kicks off on Monday 18 August with Tigers Day, a celebration of all things Castleford Tigers. Expect a lively atmosphere and plenty of opportunities to show your support for the team, with appearances and activities that fans of all ages will enjoy.
From Tuesday 19 – Saturday 23 August, the market will be transformed into a playful indoor picnic space, complete with artificial grass, picnic benches, and a wide range of giant games including Connect 4, Jenga, Snakes and Ladders, Tetris, dominoes, and a block play area for toddlers. Colouring activities will also be available throughout the week.
On Friday 22 and Saturday 23 August, the outdoor sandpit returns alongside deckchairs and traditional funfair rides, bringing even more seaside charm to the town centre. And on Saturday, a face painter will be on hand to add a splash of colour to the day.
This free, drop-in event is designed to bring the joy of the coast to Castleford.
No booking required – just turn up and enjoy some good old-fashioned summer fun. While you’re there, why not treat yourself to a drink or snack from one of the many fantastic market traders?
