About
Pemberton Garden is a new temporary urban community garden free for everyone to access, grow plants and enjoy! You can visit the garden at any time of day, or join us for our free weekly gardening sessions on Tuesday afternoons 14:00-16:00 from 13th June – 26th September.
The garden has been created as part of the Upper Westgate High Street Heritage Action Zone project. It first launched on 22nd April on Earth Day at a free public event where the community was invited to help create the garden.
This summer the garden is there for you to enjoy at a time that suits you. The weekly gardening sessions will be a great way to meet people, donate things to the garden, help to grow and maintain the space, and find out more about the project. No need to pre-book, just turn up. Each week there will be different things to do in the garden, whether that be planting new seeds, helping to weed, enhancing the space or harvesting the fruit, vegetables and herbs to enjoy!
Pemberton Garden is just off Westgate by the old Westgate Railway Station entrance. It is next to Westgate Chapel and opposite the Elephant and Castle.
Address: 122 Westgate, Wakefield, WF1 1XP
