An external tour of Ackworth School buildings and grounds with Celia to guide you, lasting approximately one hour, with an additional optional 30 minutes Q&A session.
Originally a Thomas Coram foundling hospital, the site was purchased by the Society of Friends in the 1770s for the establishment of a school. The buildings are extensive and impressive. Visitors will have access to the exterior and to the library for the Q&A session.
The school was founded in 1779 by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) to educate boys and girls.
Supported by Pontefract Civic Society.
