About
Be inspired by the Art Collection of the National Coal Mining Museum with our exciting Adult Art Workshops which will be running the first Saturday of the month from October 1, 2022.
Each month we will be bringing in an artist to run different sessions using different mediums which have been inspired by the art within our Collection.
Each £5 ticket also includes a cup of tea or coffee!
Saturday 1 October 2022: Watercolour Portraits
Experiment with watercolours to create a portrait of your own as you take influence from the monotone paintings in our collection.
Saturday 5 November 2022: Clay-Modelling
Inspired by the sculptural work of Betty Miller and paintings of William D. Dring’s ‘At the Coal Face’ in our Collection, we will explore self-hardening clay as a modelling tool to create portraits in both tile relief form and as a miniature bust.
Saturday 3 December 2022: Charcoal and Beyond
Explore the use of light and shadow as a method of adding drama and atmosphere into your artworks by developing your techniques in working with charcoal, graphite, chalks and paint as we look closely at portraits underground.
