'After the Coal Dust' is a series of photographs by Bridget and John Gill of Castleford. It is a non-profit project designed to show life in the local area.

Although many of the pictures are taken in the local 'coal towns' they are equally relevant to many areas of post-industrial Britain as other traditional industries such as steel and textiles have seen a similar decline.

The idea is not one of nostalgia for the 'good old days' but a dispassionate look at what comes after the closure of an area's main industry and focal point.

After the Coal Dust has been exhibited both in the local area and overseas including in Japan and a book of the photographs was released last year.

The exhibition opens on 2 October as part of the 'Trouble at' Mill' Literary Festival and is then open to the public on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday until 18 October.
