Sat 02 Apr 2022 - Sat 02 Apr 2022

10:00 - 13:00

During the workshop, you will explore the process and approach of making analogue photographs – responding to your own locality, Wakefield.

The day will begin at 10am with a group meet up at The Art House café, where you will have the opportunity to hear from your tutor about their practice and their creative process. You will spend the first hour gaining inspiration from The Art House’s growing photobook library, in conversation with your tutor, before beginning the photowalk at 11am.

During the photowalk, you will have the opportunity to seek technical and creative guidance from your tutor, taking advantage of a workshop which is centred around a guided approach to making photographs and responding to the world around you, photographically.

You will be offered a 35mm camera (unless you prefer to use your own) and given one roll of 35mm film which you will have finished by the end of the photowalk. The roll will then be brought back to The Art House, where we will post to our friends at The Photo Parlour for processing and scanning.

The following week, you will receive the negatives, from your processed roll of film, along with high resolution scans.

Daniel T Wheeler

Daniel T Wheeler's work mainly springs from emotional relationships with people, the landscape and the history of areas in which he works. The necessity to socially engage with his subjects is at the root of his work. Often this means that Daniel will engrain himself within communities and develop a spiritual, historical and cultural understanding of the areas in which he makes pictures. The tactile nature of his work radiates this approach and produces distinctive and emotive images.

He currently works as a lecturer at Nottingham Trent University and DeMontfort University as well as running the lab and supporting the photographic community at The Photo Parlour, Nottingham and The Art House, Wakefield.
