There are a lot of ways to describe the dynamic Anne Lister.

Anne’s diaries are inscribed in the UNESCO UK Memory of the World Register in recognition of their substantial cultural significance to the UK. Since 2019, WYAS have been working on a transcription project which aims to create complete transcriptions of every page of Anne Lister’s diaries which will be made freely available alongside the diary images on our online catalogue.

From April 2022 – April 2023 visit the West Yorkshire History Centre, Wakefield for a unique chance to see archival material from the Shibden Hall collection including Anne’s famous diaries on display.

Opening times: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10am – 4pm. Drop-in, no booking necessary.
