Visit The Art House to experience fascinating new commission Babeworld: No Sleep Just Clouds.

The Art House is delighted to be working in partnership with The LEVEL Centre and Unlimited, to support an exciting new commission by Babeworld, a collective that seeks to create a more representative art world through the creation of projects for those who are marginalised in the arts.

No Sleep Just Clouds is an installation exploring how neurodivergent people experience creative spaces as audiences, participants and artists. It investigates the experiences of autistic, marginalised and wider neurodivergent people in the creative sector and the struggle to thrive and be ‘productive’ under capitalism.

Taking visual inspiration from anime, gaming and popular culture communities, the moving image follows a protagonist exploring a mission to create the ultimate, perfect piece of work. Using semi-autobiographical narratives, the work explores the obsessions of the protagonist in order to provide a distraction – in this case, clouds – in place of being able to make the art. The installation aesthetic draws from Babeworld’s research into the creation of environments that reflect sensory spaces for neurodivergent people. Working in collaboration with Utopian Realism, the installation will be accompanied by an ambient soundtrack.

No Sleep Just Clouds is an Unlimited UK Partner Award 2023 commission with LEVEL Centre and The Art House, made possible thanks to funding from Arts Council England.
