About

Join the National Coal Mining Museum for a free screening of the classic film Brassed Off with performances from the Crofton Silver Bandits! This heart-warming film celebrates the rich heritage of brass bands in mining communities.

Set in a village in Northern England, the story follows Danny (Pete Postlethwaite), the dedicated conductor of a colliery brass band. As the local coal mine faces closure, Danny struggles to keep the band’s spirits high. The return of Gloria (Tara Fitzgerald), a former resident now assessing the mine, brings new dynamics as she rekindles her romance with Andy (Ewan McGregor) and joins the band in their final performance at a national competition.

To make the Brassed Off screening even more special, you will be joined by the Crofton Silver Bandits, who will perform songs from the film and brass band classics film prior to the screening and after the film.

Don’t miss this unique event that highlights the resilience and camaraderie of a community in the face of adversity.
