Castleford Cemetery Trail

Explore Castleford’s rich past in a unique and thoughtful way with the Castleford Cemetery Trail, a guided walk brought to life by Castleford Civic Society. Led by a knowledgeable guide, the trail winds through the cemetery, stopping at 17 carefully selected gravestones. Each one reveals a different chapter of Castleford’s history, from notable local figures to everyday residents whose lives reflect the town’s industrial roots, community spirit, and social change over time. Through these personal stories, the walk offers a compelling snapshot of Castleford’s development across generations.

The cemetery trail provides step free access throughout. However surfaces may be uneven and slippery depending on the weather conditions. With this in mind please wear appropriate footwear.
