Get creative at The Art House this summer holiday with inspiring, hands-on workshops designed especially for young artists!
This Art Club for children aged 7-12 is the perfect place for budding creatives to explore new ideas, develop artistic skills, and build confidence through making. Across a range of exciting projects, children can experiment with creative processes to bring their own unique ideas to life.
Working in the professional Maker Spaces alongside experienced teaching artists, participants will gain a behind-the-scenes experience of a real creative environment in a fun, welcoming, and supportive setting, while making new friends who share a love of art.
Due to space limitations in the creative workshop spaces, parents are asked to drop their children off for the session and collect them promptly at the finish time. When booking, let The Art House team know if your child has any access or learning needs so they can support them as needed in the session.
Exploring The Darkroom
Thursday 20 August | 1pm-3pm
Enjoy 2 hours of darkroom discovery, making photographs with the GIANT Camera Obscura and exploring other cameraless printing processes.
Participants will experience the magic of a historical camera obscura, as well as understanding how photographs are made within a traditional black and white darkroom. The session is playful and engaging for children of all abilities ages 7-12.
Print Your Own Tote Bag
Wednesday 26 August | 10am-12pm
Come and enjoy a creative summer workshop where young artists will discover the fun of screen printing while designing and printing their very own cotton tote bag! Using bold shapes, patterns and nature-inspired designs, children will learn the basics of screen printing and experiment with colour to create a unique bag to take home and use all summer long. Perfect for creative children of all abilities, this relaxed, hands-on workshop is a wonderful introduction to printmaking, encouraging their imagination and building confidence in artistic techniques.
Ceramic Wall Plaque
Thursday 27 August | 1pm-3pm
Get stuck in creating your own personalised sign or plaque for your bedroom. Using slab built forms participants will experiment with different stamps and cutters to create funky shapes and patterns to personalise their signs. Each piece will be painted and decorated in session, before being glazed and fired by the Ceramics Technician, ready to collect within 3 weeks. Suitable for children of all abilities.
