About
Join CoActive Arts for a magical illuminated lantern display in the sunken garden opposite the main entrance to The Hepworth Wakefield.
CoActive Arts is a charity supporting developing artists with learning disabilities. This year is their 20th Anniversary of creating a place to belong through the arts. As part of their celebrations they have created a CoActive Chimera (a creature made up of a number of other animals characteristics) – this creature is a self portrait of CoActive Arts. The creatures represented in the Chimera express how we see ourselves as CoActive Arts. The creatures you may be able to spot in the Chimera are: a dog – representing loyalty, friendship, kindness, exuberance; a dragon – representing creativity, imagination and magic; a butterfly – representing transformation, change and flight; a phoenix – representing rebirth, new beginnings and hope out of difficulty.
Alongside the Chimera, they will be exhibiting abstract lantern figures in sets of three, inspired by their logo of three dancing figures. These shapes were developed from life drawings of our CoActive dancers.
