About
Inspired by Andy Holden’s sculpture The Auguries (Last Calls), make your own colourful, personalised ‘Wiser Bird’ with a message for Wakefield and the wider world.
Whether sad, hopeful, silly, poignant, poetic or surreal, write your message on your bird and see it join the flock to take flight as part of our finale event The Gathering, or take it home to flutter in your window.
A soundscape inspired by Holden’s work is also being created with messages from people form Wakefield District Sight Aid (a local charity supporting people living with sight loss), mixed with birdsong which will be available to listen to at the finale event in the city centre on Saturday 16 September.
About the Wakefield Sculpture Trail
The Wakefield Sculpture Trail is an exciting series of sculptures across the city centre. The sculptures have been created by artists Annie Morris, Andy Holden, Halima Cassell, Jason Wilsher-Mills and Ro Robertson and are here for everyone to enjoy.
Over the summer, explore the sculptures and take part in creative activities with a celebration event on Saturday 16 September to welcome the sculptures to their new home of Wakefield.
All events are FREE and suitable for all ages and abilities.
