Comedy at WX: laugh out loud in the heart of Wakefield!
Get ready for a night of side-splitting stand-up as WX – Wakefield Exchange teams up with the brilliant minds at Plane Comedy to bring some of the UK’s sharpest comedic talent to the stage. Taking place on the last Saturday of every month, these regular comedy nights promise big laughs, bold personalities, and a buzzing atmosphere right in the centre of Wakefield.
With a rotating line-up of top-notch comedians, ranging from rising stars to seasoned pros, no two shows are ever the same. Whether you’re a die-hard comedy fan or just in need of a good belly laugh, this is your monthly dose of feel-good fun.

Guest MC Tony Basnett
An upbeat and playful comic, Tony has been seen across the country at top comedy clubs as well as performing at some of the UK’s major music festivals, with a mischievous and positive style that will get any crowd to warm to his charm.
Opening Headliner: Beth Black
Decidedly dark and deliciously different, an evening with Bethany Black is a one way ticket to a world you never knew existed. Managing to balance dark-tinged comedy with being warm and chatty, she has built a cult following for her brand of confessional comedy.
Middle Headliner: Daliso Chaponda
Daliso Chaponda is a UK-based, Malawian stand up comedian who has appeared in shows and festivals around the world. He regularly appears in comedy clubs and theatres across the UK. He is a versatile comedian and is best-known for his appearance on Britain’s Got Talent, where he reached the semi-finals and achieved third place.
Closing Headliner: Tony Law
A one of those ‘once seen never forgotten’ acts. He’s really like nothing you’ve ever seen been before and if he’s on the bill the show is a real ‘don’t miss this’. No wonder then that this Canadian surrealist and master story-teller is a three-time Chortle Award winner, Amused Moose Best Show winner and Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee.
