Pontefract Castle‘s eggcellent Dragon Parade Day is back for 2025! Join the team at the start of the day for relaxed sessions with reduced numbers for SEND families.


Face painting (bookable slots 10am to 11am):


Relaxed face painting with no queueing required! Let the fabulous face painter transform you into a fearsome dragon, fancy fairy or whatever you choose. These 10-minute timeslots are for SEND visitors (1 person per time slot) to ensure you don’t have to queue. Pop up to the castle bailey at your time slot.


Dave the Knight (bookable session 10am to 10.30am):


Noble knight Sir Dave is back for another Dragon Parade Day! He’s got lots of noble quests to tell you all about. Hear how he calmed down an angry dragon, with the help of a brave princess!


Meet the Dragon Hunters (bookable session 10.30am to 11am):


Meet Dragon Hunters and hear tales of their brave and daring adventures. Learn tips and tricks to find dragons yourself! Find the Dragon Hunters by the bandstand when it’s time for your session.


Dragon parade crafts (bookable 10am to 10.45am):


Get ready for the Dragon Parade with a range of fun themed crafts for families! This session is at an earlier, typically quieter time of day.


All activities are free.

The main Dragon Parade will be at 2pm. Please note this will likely be very busy. There are also drop-in versions of all of the above activities from 11am to 4pm on the same day.


(SEND families are always welcome at all of our activities. We are also running sessions for visitors prefer a more relaxed atmosphere. These sessions will be bookable with reduced numbers.)
