About
In 2021 – 2022, artist Annie Harrison walked from her home in Mytholmroyd in West Yorkshire to Hull in East Yorkshire. Following the river network, the walk took her along the Calder and Aire through Castleford.
Along the way, Annie collected plants, stories and impressions. She created artworks inspired by the landscape she encountered.
The centrepiece of the project is a panoramic textile artwork tracing the full river route. Admire the intricate patchwork piece at Queen’s Mill throughout April 2025. Enjoy the spectacular hanging against the perfect backdrop of the River Aire and Castleford’s Millennium Bridge.
Find out more about Annie’s journey of discovery and how the river became her trusted companion.
Also head to Castleford Museum to enjoy more Ebb and Flow artworks in a variety of media. See paintings, prints and pieces on display in the town that inspired them.
