About
During this taster session at The Art House, you will explore what film processing is all about. You will gain experience of how to process your own roll of film, an understanding of how the chemicals react inside the developer tub and touch on the different effects of the development process.
This workshop is an excellent precursor to one of our darkroom printing workshops. Class sizes are kept small to allow for a more one-to-one experience with your teaching artist. This allows you more focused time to spend on developing your skills.
Students must bring a roll of exposed black and white film, either 35mm or 120mm, which is ready to be processed.
Be careful not to bring a roll of film which is a C-41 process, as this won’t be suitable for the session.
Who is the workshop for?
This course is best suited to those who need a bit of a refresher on film processing or those who are totally new to doing it themselves.
You need to have exposed your own roll of film before hand so understanding how to shoot with film is important prior to this workshop.
You will leave this workshop having processed a roll of your own film and feeling confident in coming back to process in The Art House’s facilities (or at home) again.
Do I need to bring anything?
Students must bring a roll of exposed black and white film, either 35mm or 120mm, which is ready to be processed.
Be careful not to bring a roll of film which is a C-41 process, as this won’t be suitable for the session.
