About
Led by farmer Alastair Wilson (photo right side) and Pontefract Civic Society member Richard Hirst (photo left side), this walk will follow a similar route through the village to last year, with an extended route and a longer guided walk of 2 miles taking 2 to 2.5 hours, with stops along the way covering past and present features.
You will hear how farm work has changed from being very labour intensive with many small farms in the village and relatively small surrounding fields, to the landscape and village layout we see today with much larger farms, needing less staff as mechanisation, efficiency and size of farm equipment has changed.
3 tours are available with a maximum 10 per tour.
Pre-booking essential.
Meet in The Spread car park 5 minutes before the start time.
Organised by Pontefract Civic Society.
