About
Ever wondered how people in Henry VIII’s time celebrated Christmas?
Children of all ages and their grown-ups are invited to join us as we explore some of the ways in which the Tudor residents of Pontefract Castle got into the Christmas spirit. You can even make some Tudor-style Christmas decorations to take home!
Engage your senses and experience some of the sights and smells of a Tudor Christmas, and find out which of today’s Christmas traditions we have the Tudors to thank for!
Families will work together to make Tudor-style decorations such as pomanders and greenery boughs to take home.
PLEASE NOTE: plant materials, fruit and spices will be used to make decorations – but not eaten – in this workshop.
These workshops are delivered in partnership with the Community & Family Learning Team at Wakefield Council’s Adult Education Service.
Booking is required. Children £2.50, accompanying adults free.
