Discover the story of Herbert Smith in this fascinating exhibition at Castleford Library.


Herbert Smith was born in the Great Preston Poorhouse and was buried in Castleford Cemetery. He started his working life aged 10 at Glasshoughton Pit and rose to be the Leader of the Miners Federation of Great Britain at the pivotal time of the 1926 General Strike. Come and see the exhibition at Castleford Library about his life, times and work.


The exhibition will be open during library opening hours.


This event will be part of the Heritage Open Day events being held by Castleford Civic Society.
