Start the festive season in style as Wakefield Council light up the Wakefield District this November!
Bring your family and friends to Light Up Wakefield to experience the Light Switch-On, parade and light art installations! Start your adventure at the Event Hub in WX Wakefield Exchange and pick up a free trail map to locate all the light art installations appearing across the city. On Friday 13 November, visitors can enjoy the festive Light Switch-On taking place at 5:30pm in the Cathedral Precinct. On Saturday 14 November, visitors can enjoy ‘Nature’s Return’ – a breathtaking illuminated parade celebrating the return of wildlife to Wakefield’s rivers, meadows, moors and gardens.
Enjoy the best of what the autumnal season has to offer with cosy, community-centred Light Switch-On events in Castleford, Ossett and Pontefract. As the sun sets you can enjoy festive markets where traders will be offering a wide range of goodies and see entertaining live performances taking place on the main stage. There will also be delicious street food and drink, fun fringe activities from our partners before the pièce de résistance – the official switch-on and illumination of our town centres!
