The Friends of Waterton’s Wall are pleased to host a lime mortar workshop as part of WallFest. This workshop will offer volunteers an overview of the theory and practical application of traditional restoration skills. This ‘taster session’ will serve to highlight the significance of the wall and create a platform to educate others in the knowledge and practical skills that are needed to carry out restoration work on the wall itself.
The workshop will be led by Mark Womersley. Mark has a national reputation having worked on many prestigious projects, such as the Great Hall, Lambeth Palace; Hammersmith Apollo, London; York Minster; York City Walls; as well as many internationally!
Workshop to include:
- Introduction to the various tools and how to use them
- A demonstration of the various techniques
- A chance for volunteers to ‘have a go’ at some of the more simple techniques
