Prepare for the Pontefract Liquorice Festival to go on tour, with the return of its food and drink trail! Venues across Pontefract will be offering delicious liquorice-themed items to delight your taste buds throughout the festival weekend… from pastries and cakes to smoothies and cocktails, it’s a chance to discover (or rediscover!) some of your favourite independent bars, restaurants and cafes.


Here’s a list of participating venues and some of the delectable sweet-themed goodies on offer:


🍔 Cryer & Stott Cheesemongers: Yorkshire cheddar infused with Pontefract’s famous liquorice.


🍸 The Old Grocers: A full bodied flavoured Liquorice stout in partnership with our good friends at Tarn 51 brewery based in Altofts.


🧁 Blondies Brewhouse & Bakes: Victoria sandwich with a twist. Liquorice jam and liquorice buttercream sandwiched between two Vanilla sponges topped with more…you guessed it liquorice!


🧁🍸 The Hideaway: Liquorice cheesecake and the team’s mixologist has created a liquorice cocktail.


🍸 Cartners No 5: A liquorice rum, liquorice gin and a blackcurrant and liquorice stout. There will also be some liquorice themed snacks on the bar.


🍸 The Mad Ox: A special cocktail and free liquorice sweets.


🧁🍸🍔 Farmer Copleys: Pork & liquorice sausage, liquorice topped pork pies, liquorice cheese, honey & liquorice gelato, liquorice & blackcurrent gelato. They also stock a range of liquorice products including tea, stout, jam and more!


🧁🍸🍔 Cromwells Restaurant: Beef & liquorice stout pie with liquorice gravy, liquorice cream pudding, ginger beer with blackcurrant & liquorice cordial, liquorice stout and liquorice & mint herbal tea.


🍸 Myxology: Special cocktails including The Liquorice Allsort using Black Sambuca and Strawberry Sourz. The Liquorice Martini uses the perfect mix of Vodka and Ouzo to tickle your taste buds and the Raspberry Liquorice Lace Cocktail using Raspberry Sourz and Ouzo with added flavours and topped with soda water.


🍸 House of Ales: Their very own brewed Pontefract Liquorice Stout.


🧁🍸 Jollys: All things liquorice from tea to cakes.


🧁🍸 Tooth & Tiger: Liquorice and chocolate muffin and liquorice all sort cocktail!


🍸 The Last Bank: Liquorice all sort cocktail.


🍸 The Printers Draft: Liquorice cocktails, a liquorice beer and sweeties.


🧁 The Castle Coffee Shop: Liquorice goodies.
