About
Come and join Pontefract Civic Society as they explore the wonderful world of liquorice and its history in Pontefract.
Meet Paul Cartwright, Chair of Pontefract Civic Society, at the bandstand in the inner bailey of Pontefract Castle 5 minutes before the start time.
The sites of some liquorice producers remain, though for the rest you’ll need to use your imagination for how extensive and important liquorice was in Pontefract.
A map of former liquorice business locations will be provided, and the walk will end at Pontefract Museum in the town centre.
