Time Tunnel

Be transported through the centuries as you are taken through almost 200 years of mining history thanks to state-of-the-art technology. Led by a former miner you will travel through time and discover the incredible stories of coal mining through the centuries.




Makers’ Shed

Get inspired by the Nature Trail and make some bright and beautiful spring-themed crafts to take home.




Stories of Pit Lasses

Listen to family-friendly stories of strong women from mining communities – from coal queens to pit brow lasses.




Paddy Train

Hop on the Paddy Train and travel to Hope Pit and Caphouse Colliery.




Horsekeeper Talks

Free at Pony Discovery Centre


Visit Eric, Ernie, Finn and Bud. Join a our Horsekeeper talks at 12pm, see what they are fed at 2.30pm.




Caphouse Creators May Half Term Special – Paper Making (7-12-year-olds)

Turn recycled paper into beautiful handmade sheets using real papermaking tools. Learn creative techniques and sustainable practices along the way.
