About

Learn how to start your own doodle stitch fabric in this welcoming and creative workshop with embroidery artist Jessica Grady. Jessica will guide you through a selection of simple, versatile stitches that can be combined in playful and expressive ways to build colour, pattern, texture and shape across your own unique doodle cloth background.

You’ll explore how small, repeated marks can grow organically into layered, abstract compositions — with no strict rules and plenty of room for experimentation.

Doodle stitching is a wonderfully mindful practice. The gentle rhythm of hand embroidery encourages focus, calm and creativity, making it both relaxing and rewarding. Whether you’re completely new to embroidery or looking to refresh your skills and try a more intuitive approach, this session offers a supportive space to explore at your own pace.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have started your own stitched textile piece and gained the confidence to continue developing your doodle stitch practice at home.

All materials and refreshments included. Maximum number of participants is 12.

You can find out more about Jess on her website.

The event will take place upstairs in Gallery 2 at Lakeside Creative Arts Centre.
