About
Pantomime is a traditional and uniquely British type of theatre and an important part of many people’s Christmas and New Year celebrations. In Pontefract the St Giles with St Mary’s Pantomime Society has been making people laugh for 75 years. Founded in 1949, the society has enchanted generations of Pomfretians with time-honoured stories, told by larger-than-life characters in gorgeous costumes.
To celebrate this 75th anniversary, Pontefract Museum is joining up with the Society to put on a special show for all the family.
Find out what goes into putting on a spectacular performance. Enjoy the sparkle of costumes and props from memorable past productions. Watch star performers and be inspired to step on stage yourself!
