Age guidance

Recommended for people from 3 years old

This half term, join photographer Emily Ryalls for a free, family-friendly photography workshop exploring our current exhibition of neon sculpture, FRED TSCHIDA: CIRCLESPHERE.

Perfect for the budding young photographers in your life, you will be guided in how to use a simple camera app on a phone or iPad to create long exposure photographs – a method that brilliantly captures the movement of Tschida’s rotating neon sculptures, turning the neon outline into a vase seemingly made of light.

As well as having fun creating layered photographs and “painting with light”, you will have a chance to take collaborative photographs on traditional film cameras and explore how cameras let in light to transform the film inside and create photographs. The film will be processed after the workshop and displayed at The Art House later in the exhibition.

A number of devices, pre-loaded with the app will be available to use on the day. Participants with access to an iOS device like an iPhone or iPad can also download the app for £1.79 in the app store. Please indicate when booking whether you’ll be using your own device or will be using one of The Art House’s shared devices.
