About
This eclectic musical collective come together to create a mesmerising melting pot of musical styles and influences including Pitmatic folk, Jazz, Classical, Blues and Funk.
Pitmatix are a new collective of working-class musicians from Yorkshire & the North-East. Performing a range of radical folk songs from past & present they aim to keep the traditional songs of our mining communities, trade unions & protest movements alive and kicking in the 21st Century.
The highly skilled and experienced band members are friends hailing from Durham and Yorkshire, each sharing and drawing upon their contrasting experiences and observations of working class politics, coal mining and trade union heritage and activism to create music which creatively campaigns for peace, solidarity and positive social and political change, music they hope will make audiences pause, think, dance and act.
