Learn About Pontefract’s Liquorice Past. This talk was first delivered for Liquorice Shoots and Pontefract Liquorice Festival 2024, and is being reprised for Heritage Open Days!

Hermitage Talk: A History of the Medieval Hermitage of Pontefract
A talk on the history of Pontefract’s Hermitage and Oratory, a fascinating Grade 1 listed site, it will also include an introduction on how David Wilcox’s is involved and an update on its current state.

A tour around the centre of Pontefract, talking about the history of many of the beautiful buildings.

An opportunity to see how the town has changed in the last 100 years, and to participate in bringing back your
memories of how Pontefract used to be.
Photographs shown will be part of the Local Studies collection at Pontefract Library. Duration 45 minutes to 1 hour. Please meet 5 minutes before start time.
