About

Ever wondered what happens in a Masonic Lodge? You are cordially invited to discover the history of the Pontefract Masonic Lodge through a guided tour and learn about the symbolism and traditions of ancient Freemasonry.

The first Masonic Hall in Pontefract was above Arundel’s Offices in Ropergate in 1862. In 1892, land at the end of Ropergate was purchased for £375 to purpose build a new hall, which was completed in 1894. The current building, situated at the corner of Ackworth Road and Carleton Road was built around 1890 and serves as a meeting place for 7 Masonic Lodges. The inside of Masonic Hall includes the Chapel, viewing is a unique experience.

Refreshments will be available.

Please note the car park could be busy through use of the nearby driver test centre.
