Join Pontefract Civic Society’s for a guided walk, by Pontefract Civic Society, with information about its WWI & WWII connections, and the much longer history and origins of the park and reference to nature in the park.
A walk inside Pontefract Racecourse circuit, which highlights a brief history of the park (including its link with Royalty, the castle, horse racing and its reduction in size). It considers the events and activities which took place associated with both World Wars, and aspects of nature in Pontefract Park.
Meet Derek Norfolk 5 minutes before the start time between the lake/football pitches and the ‘pepperpot’ building.
Dependent upon the weather and underfoot conditions, suitable clothes and footwear are advisable. Suitable footwear is essential for varied surfaces, and the route is NOT accessible for those with mobility issues.
Pre-booking is helpful, though walk-ins accepted.
