About

A 1 hour talk and 1 hour tour by Norman Gundill MBE on the history and development of the sport of horseracing and Pontefract Racecourse.

After the historical talk, a guided tour will follow of the Stands and Enclosures, including Weighing Room and the Judges, Commentator and Photo Finish facilities. The latter will be done in two sub-groups. There are steps throughout the tour as you move through the various buildings en route.

Car Parking available at Huggamug cafe, which is located once in Pontefract Park by taking the road to the left up an incline behind the racecourse complex, the turning right into the car park. Please park sensibly to allow cafe users to arrive and leave with ease, as you will be on site at least 2 hours.

Maximum 25 people – 1 event only, pre-booking essential.

Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time to allow for car parking, and a short walk into the complex and upstairs to the suite being used for the introductory talk.
