We are delighted to announce that Castleford Heritage Trust will once again be taking part in the National Heritage Open Day Festival this year! It has been a long time since we last run this event and we can wait to welcome you back to Queen's Mill. What better place is there to visit than an iconic flour mill with over 1,100 years of history.

Visit our community photography exhibition Our Natural World or book onto a Heritage Walk, Mill Tour, River Talk or Children's Craft Activity. We will be delighted to welcome you!

Queen's Mill will be hosting a community exhibition Castleford: Our Natural World in our Island Gallery. The exhibition will feature a range of photographs of Castleford's natural spaces, each sent in by a member of the community. Enjoy a glimpse into the local natural world then take time to pick out your favourite photo. Your vote will help select a prize winner!

There will also be lots of special activities running on the day:

- Join us for a Heritage Walk - discovering Castleford history as you take a gentle stroll along the waterways. Our tour guide will be delighted to tell you all about what you can see.

- Hear our Talk on the History of Castleford Rivers - Castleford has a longstanding relationship with its waterways. How much do you know about these? Hear from our local expert.

- Take a tour around Queen's Mill and discover why it was once the world largest stoneground flour mill. Find out about how Castleford Heritage Trust volunteers restarted milling on the site and how they are keeping up with this longstanding tradition.

- Take part in a Children’s Activity workshop and take home a new creation.
