Come to the National Coal Mining Museum for a whole week of activities and events during half term!

Get creative as we share the Queen’s love for horses in our Caphouse Creators and Makers’ Shed specials then get transported back to the coronation when you see our Vintage Vehicle collection and celebrate with games by the beach.

Caphouse Creators Half Term Special: The Queens Horses – String Art

Wednesday 1 – 3 June, 11am -12pm

£5 per child

7-12 year olds are invited to get creative at our monthly club, learning new skills and practical techniques!

Create a unique art piece by using wood working tools and string to form the negative space.

Makers’ Shed Half Term Special: The Queens Horses – Sock Puppet Ponies

Saturday 28 – 29 May, Wednesday 1 – 5 June, 12pm – 4pm


Get creative when you craft your very own sock puppet ponies, share the Queen’s love of horses and you use a variety of different materials to make your very own puppet pony.

Living History: Peggy captures the Coronation
