Recommended for people from 1 to 100 years old

The Art House has teamed up with Wakefield Council’s Festival of the Earth, Wakefield BID and the Wakefield Express to celebrate the start of the school holidays with four days of free, eco-themed art activities at The Ridings.

Take part in Recycled City and help to design and build a model of Wakefield city centre, using entirely recycled and eco-friendly materials. Taking inspiration from iconic buildings throughout the city, as well as cutting edge “eco-architecture” from across the globe, participants of all ages will learn how to design and construct model buildings, both real and imagined.

Following the final day of activities, all of the models made over the course of the week will be displayed together (in a location to be confirmed) to showcase participant’s ideas about how the city could be more environmentally friendly, liveable, and fun.

All Recycled City activities will be family-friendly and everyone is welcome to join in the fun, for free, anytime.

Just drop-in and have a go!

All activities will be run by long-time studio holders of The Art House, Edgelands Arts.

Find Recycled City in the food court, opposite The Tree Bar (K4) on the Upper Mall of The Ridings.

Recycled City will launch on Wednesday 28 July 17:00-20:00 for Artwalk Wakefield, a bi-monthly art event coordinated by The Art House.

Then open daily – 10:00-15:00, Thursday 29 – Saturday 31 July
