About
Did you know there was once a Roman bath house in Castleford? This geophysics survey drop-in is your chance to find out all about it!
Have you ever wondered about the history buried below our feet? During this year’s Castleford Roman Festival, a geophysics team from Leeds University School of Earth and Environment will be mapping the site of the Roman Bathhouse on Savile Road using ground penetrating radar.
Visitors to the festival are invited to call in to see what’s happening, and chat to volunteers about the Roman archaeology of the bath house, and how we can use technology to map buried sites.
Please note that the bath house site is next to a busy road – please take care and cross the road only at designated crossing places.
