As part of Castleford Roman Festival, families can step into Lagentium, the Roman settlement now Castleford, that stood here nearly 2000 years ago and take part in minting their own Roman coin!
As part of the free creative workshop, participants will:
- Shape a clay coin
- Press Roman symbols using coin stamps including wreaths, eagles, numerals
- Finish the coin with a gold metallic effect inspired by Roman currency
- Each young mint worker places their treasure into a small coin pouch and writes their official date of minting, creating a personal souvenir of their visit to Castleford!
