About

Get ready for an unforgettable cycling event at The Big Wonders of Wakefield Ride as part of Our Year – Wakefield District 2024‘s Moving Festival!

Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or a beginner, there’s a ride distance perfect for you. With seven different ride distances ranging from 4 to 21 miles, you can choose a route that matches your experience and fitness level. All rides start from the beautiful Pugneys Country Park, providing a picturesque and welcoming beginning to your cycling adventure.

Each route is thoughtfully designed to include a section of the 21-mile Wonders of Wakefield cycle route. This ensures that no matter which distance you choose, you’ll experience a part of this renowned trail. Along the way, enjoy a 30-minute break at a key point on your route, giving you ample time to rest and explore one of the Wonders of Wakefield. Visit historic Sandal Castle, take in the tranquil beauty of Newmillerdam, or immerse yourself in the art at The Hepworth Wakefield. These stops are not just breaks but opportunities to soak in the rich culture and natural beauty of the Wakefield District.

After your refreshing break, you’ll embark on the return journey to Pugneys Country Park. The routes are mainly off-road, allowing you to ride through scenic paths and enjoy the landscape without the worry of traffic. The well-marked WoW route ensures a safe and enjoyable ride back, making the entire experience both relaxing and invigorating.
