Join The Art House as they celebrate the visit of The Hatchling to Wakefield City Centre!

There are plenty of free, drop-in activities to take part in including:

Outdoor Talk, Chalk & Draw 12pm – 3pm

Join the Studio of Sanctuary (SoS) in a free outdoor creative workshop. Led by a local artist, with members of the SoS, you’ll take part in this community pavement art event.

Expanding on their weekly indoor Talk & Draw sessions, they’ll move their creative workshops out onto the pavement for their first-ever Talk, Chalk & Draw!

Screen Printing: Love, Hope and Everyone Welcome! 10am–3pm

Recommended age 7+. All children should be accompanied by an adult.

Take part in family-friendly screen printing workshop to make your own colourful posters and banners in preparation to welcome The Hatchling who will be making a visit!

The workshop celebrates the themes of welcome for everyone. Choose from a few different designs and print your welcome banner and slogans of love and hope to take and wave on the street before The Hatchling passes the building, or take your creations home and display them in your windows.

The Herb Hunt 11am-3.30pm

Families are invited to search for the herbs that can be found within our Urban Garden. Pick up a map in the Coffee House to help discover the whereabouts of the herbs and learn about what they can be used for.

Find all 12 to win a free children’s sweet treat from Coffee House.

Gardening Club – Exploring Our Urban Orchard 12pm-3pm

The Art House is surrounded by small growing spaces, which make up a community garden. People can come together to learn about edible and decorative plants and herbs which grow in a Yorkshire climate. Drop in to meet the Studio of Sanctuary groups who will show you around to help you explore the Urban Orchard.

Who knows…there might be a surprise visitor  coming to explore the Urban Orchard as well…

The Hatchling is an incredible free outdoor theatrical performance taking place across the August bank holiday weekend as part of Our Year – Wakefield District 2024.
