Come along and discover the wonders of the Moon in a fascinating talk led by West Yorkshire Astronomical Society member David Jakes. This session will explore how and when to view the Moon, offering practical tips for observers of all experience levels, as well as an engaging look at the Moon’s history and its importance to our understanding of space.
The talk will also delve into the science behind the Moon’s orbit around the Earth and how this influences tides, eclipses and our planet as a whole. To round things off, there will be an overview of recent and upcoming Moon missions, highlighting how modern space exploration is helping to uncover new insights about our nearest celestial neighbour.
