About
The Wakefield Railway Modellers Society will be displaying their model of Tom Puddings at Stanley Ferry on the Aire & Calder Navigation in The Ridings Shopping Centre over the weekend of 3-4 October 2026.
With help from Our Year 2024, the model was built to display the importance of Wakefield to the development of the Aire and Calder Navigation, and its use as key transport waterway between West Yorkshire and the port of Goole through which coal from the surrounding area was exported across Europe.
If you have any memories of ‘Tom Puddings’, or the Aire & Calder, the society would love to hear them!
Also on show will be an assortment of items and displays giving a bit more background to the model, the Society itself, and its forthcoming annual exhibition at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School.
