Wakefield Armed Forces Day is a free, family-friendly event honouring serving and veteran members of the Armed Forces alongside the broader services of military personnel.
Visitors can walk through the military village, discovering more about the capabilities and traditions of the armed forces by speaking to serving military and cadets. The 5 Towns Veterans Support Hub will also be a hosting a VIP area for veterans.
The main arena will be compered by Rhubarb Radio, with a fantastic schedule of activities including the veteran’s parade, tug of war, drill competitions and much more! There will also be a fantastic parachute display from the Wings Free Fall Parachute Team, plus a flypast from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
Shop at the market, with traders selling an assortments of delicious food, drinks, homemade crafts and gifts. Looking for lunch? With plenty of street food vendors you’ll be spoilt for choice! You can also take a break at the onsite bar which will be serving a range of refreshments. Children will love the funfair rides which are back again this year – please note they are cash only.
Wakefield Armed Forces Day is organised by Wakefield Council and is part of the UK-wide Armed Forces Day celebrations.
Wakefield Council are thrilled to be one of the 130 local events supported by a Ministry of Defence grant.
