Wakefield Armed Forces Day is a day of celebration! It is a real opportunity for the people of the Wakefield District to come together to say a big thank you to our military personnel and their families, along with our Veterans and Cadet Forces.
This hugely popular, free event will take place in the beautiful grounds of Pontefract Park. The venue provides the perfect location for the Armed Forces to showcase their equipment and displays, and provides the public a great opportunity to meet the troops.
Here’s what you can expect:
- Battle of Britain Memorial Flight fly past
- Military displays
- Craft market and food trucks
- Historic military vehicles
- K9 Fireside Police Dog Trials
- Performances from The Yorkshire Military Band
- Free fall parachute display
- The all important Veteran’s Parade
This is a family friendly event and really does offer something for everyone, whilst celebrating our Armed Forces. With free entry and free parking, see you there!

Entry and parking
Entry to Wakefield Armed Forces Day is free and there is no charge for parking. It is expected to be a busy day so please do try to car-share or use public transport where you can. This will minimise the impact on local traffic in and around Pontefract.
There is Blue Badge parking available. Please show your Blue Badge to parking staff.
