The Events Team at Wakefield Council are passionate about providing an enjoyable experience that is accessible to all.
Our friendly team of staff, security, first aiders and contractors will be on hand to offer any assistance throughout the event. You can find them in either Hi-Vis or Wakefield Council Uniform, look for ‘EVENT STAFF’ on their backs.
Site Description
Pontefract Park is a spacious, open green field divided into two levels, with no paved footpaths.
The two levels are mostly flat, with a gentle incline connecting the lower level field to the upper level field.
- Lower level field: Arena, craft market, community stalls, and activity stands for the military, blue light services and cadets.
- Upper Level Field: Funfair, food court area and bars.
Assistance Dogs
Assistance dogs are welcomed to all areas of the event, this must be an assistance dog that is recognised by one of the official charitable organisations as members of Assistance Dogs UK.
Accessible Parking
Please be aware of changes to the Blue Badge Parking for Armed Forces Day at Pontefract Park on Sunday 6 July.
The racecourse crossing – which gives access to the park’s main car park – is temporarily closed for repairs.
Alternative Blue Badge parking is availablB as part of the main event car park.
Please follow signs to “Main Event Parking” and you will be guided to the area closest to the event site.
The park’s separate pedestrian crossing point is open as usual.
Accessible Toilets
Accessible toilets will be available onsite at the event.
Changing Places
Unfortunately, there is no Changing Places at the event site.
The closes Changing Places is at Junction 32 (Changing Places Toilets (changing-places.org)).
