About
Join Historic England’s Architectural Investigators to explore the rich history and architectural legacy of Wakefield’s Westgate area.
Discover some of the research techniques involved in the investigation of our built heritage and share your own knowledge, experiences, thoughts and memories at the research hub.
The tour will provide an introduction of the Heritage Action Zone project and the fascinating heritage that makes up this important area, including the remarkable rediscovery of a late 16th-century timber-framed building at 6-8 Silver Street.
Welcome refreshments will be available at Unity Hall where you can also explore some of the historical maps of Wakefield, chat to our experts and tell us your thoughts, memories and knowledge of the area before setting off on the walking tour.
The tour ends back at Unity Hall.
