About
Another opportunity to walk the streets with Dream Time Creative between 1914 and 1918 and follow in the footsteps of the brave recruits, the determined women, the convalescing wounded and the ‘enemy aliens’ of Wakefield.
From the Recruiting Office to Clayton Hospital, there’s a tale to tell on every corner in Wakefield. Tales, which by sharing, the Dream Time Creative Production hopes to keep alive in the hearts of those who love Wakefield as much as they do.
They’ll include footprints of buildings long gone, hospitals barely standing, schools, blue plaques and maybe even a wartime recipe for attendees to enjoy. Join them to honour the people of The Great War the only way they know how, by remembering.
An entirely volunteer-led endeavour, Dream Time Creative’s walks are delivered by women passionate about his and herstory, who have an infectious enthusiasm for storytelling, an interest in the legacy of our ancestors, a dramatic flair when delivering and look great in historical costumes.
Taking place on Armistice day this will be a memorable and moving event.
Your tour will start promptly, please try to arrive 5 to 10 minutes before the start time. You will find the walk waiting at the Cenotaph, Wakefield (opposite County Hall). You can also use what3words area.sacred.anyone
