Activity Families Heritage Outdoor Poetry Walk

Get creative and discover a new side to Pontefract! Take part in a welcoming poetry workshop and walk, with the Museum team celebrating their latest exhibition, Picturing Pontefract.


This session has been designed for anyone aged 10+. It’s perfect for families with older children, budding teen writers, or adults that are still kids at heart! All children under 16+ must be accompanied by an adult. There is also a separate adults-only workshop for ages 18+.


Join Pontefract Museum and Lindsey Marie from Black Horse Poets Society for a poetry walk around Pontefract. You’ll start at the museum with a brief introduction. You’ll then head out on a walk around some of the places featured in the exhibition. At each stop you’ll be given creative prompts and encouragement to develop your own poetry and ideas. The walk will end back at Pontefract Museum. You’ll have the chance to share what you have written or listen to other people’s work.


If you’ve ever wanted to get creative with words, but not sure where to start, then this could be the workshop for you!
